Update: I was on a 2 lane interstate in the right lane doing bout 60, I go to switch lane with about 70 80% throttle. The next thing I feel is the rear end coming around. At this point I had a semi on my right, a semi in front of me, grass on my left and a pickup behind me; all vehicles within 2 3 car lengths. I went ½ ¾ oppo lock then the electronics kick in and then its sliding the other way . Somehow I gathered it up while keeping it in the lane.
Still kinda wondering what made it do that, I had pushed it quite a bit before the moment and me thinks it shouldn’t have done that. Maybe the wet tarmac, me turning to switch lanes, camber of the road and the sudden kickdown caused it....
It sounds amazing! Also, I seem to have better luck than E90 when it comes to rental cars...
AMA. I’ll be driving but will look at Oppo later.

I didn’t even know you could rent one of these in R/T trim. Hertz? How’s the 8-speed TorqueFlight? Does it live up to the hype?

I currently have a Hyundai Accent. It is......not good.

I picked up this baby from National a few weeks ago:
Not a car I could really see myself owning (too big) but it made for a fine rental. Fun to drive, sounded great in sport mode, and ate up highway miles.

Scientifically proven to do great burnouts and poweslides! I can personally vouch for that. It gets a bit wallowy coming out of the slide but it is a heavy boat.

It sounds soo good in sport.

Yup, it’s Hertz. 8 speed aint bad at all. Very smooth and it shifts when you tell it to using the paddles.
TC isn't too intrusive either, especially in sport :)

My local Budget has a bunch of Charger Scat Pack editions (6.4L Hemi) on their lot. I’ve seen a Focus ST and a RAM Power Wagon there, too. I’ve rented a few 6-speed Mustang GT’s from there over the years.

That tells us nothing. ALL rentals are scientifically proven to do fantastic burnouts.

What about powerslides?
And how is one supposed to quantify burnouts?

I’m going to say it's the tires. Rental companies tend to use harder rubber for longevity, which is bad in the wet.

I know, but I did push it quite a lot intentionally before that and it felt fine...

I think the stock tire is a Firestone Firehawk. Thats why.

Oof. But it wasn't a hawk, I run them on the Mini, the ones on the charger looked different.

Road surface then, there was a spot on a State freeway here that had frequent accidents due to loss of traction. They tested the road and found it to be defective. You may have gotten lucky.

That could be it.

And how is one supposed to quantify burnouts?
Record it on video and post it here. We will then evaluate.

Pull off the lip protectors and sell on eBay!

I was too! It made it look less like a base model rental car, which was nice.

That would have been a good idea! The rental could have paid for itself!
